Stomach bears the brunt of our indiscretions in diet and drink. The ulcer may be chronic or acute. Many of the substances we take irritate and damage the stomach lining and produce acute ulcer. The ulceration causes pain, vomiting and bleeding which can be severe. The elderly are more susceptible to the corroding effect of drugs such as aspirin. Heartburns, nausea, acid eructation and vomiting are some symptoms of ulcer.
