It wasn't until the last century did humans became aware of the role played by mosquitoes in spreading a host of diseases. The mosquito is a small insect capable of flying over small distances and feeds on human and animal blood in order to reproduce and multiply. These mosquitoes are attracted towards animal herds and human dwellings by various senses such as smell and the warmth of the body. These creatures prefer dark regions to hide and are usually seen in swarms. They require standing water to multiply as their larval forms appear like tiny worms which are best suited to an aquatic environment. It has been found that generally the female mosquitoes attack organisms in search of blood to feed their young ones.
