It is also known as Leucocytes. It has an average diameter of 10micrometer. It has a cell nucleus. The WBC has the ability to change its shape. One cubic millimeter of blood contains 6000 to 10,000 WBC’s. The life time of WBC is 7 to 14 days. It helps to maintain the immune system of the body and fights against the anti-bodies. The blood platelets are also called as thrombocytes. They are the mass of protoplasm. They have the diameter of about 2 to 4micrometer. They are colorless and have no nucleus. Blood platelets play a vital role in the mechanism of blood clotting.
