The receiver circuit which receives the FM signals is known as FM receivers. The FM receivers consist of RF amplifier, mixer, local oscillator, IF amplifier, limiter, discriminator, de-emphasis, A.F voltage amplifier, A.F power amplifier, loudspeaker. Now let us discuss about the components of the FM receiver. Initially let us see about the RF amplifier, the RF amplifier eliminates the noise in the received FM signal .This amplifier matches antenna to the receiver. It improves the noise figure of the receiver. The mixer down converts the incoming carrier frequency to IF. For FM receiver, IF is 10.7 MHZ. The local oscillator frequency is varied such that IF is obtained at the mixer output .The tuning of FM receiver is from 88 to 108 MHZ, which is small .hence tracking is relatively simple in FM receiver. The output of the mixer is given to the IF amplifier The IF amplifier provides gain to the signal
