nVidia is a huge company that manufactures computer parts. The company makes loads of parts that re used in a computer, but they specialize and concentrate on a specific type called the graphic processing unit. The GPU is the heart of all graphical content. The 8 series cards that were released around 2 years ago had a new architecture that gave it a major performance boost over the last series. The new cards featured unified processors or unified shaders. These Unified processors are totally different from the previous generation’s vertex shader and pixel shader. The difference is that the unified processors can handle all types of data whether vertex or pixel. This means that none of the pipelines are ever idle and are used whenever needed. The new architecture also came on a smaller die which was in the range of 60nm. This allowed for better heat conduction and lower voltage consumption. All these new parts gave the card a much needed 50% increase in performance which allowed it to play all the existing games in high resolution.
