The final report on the Columbia disaster that took place on February 1, 2003 has just been released by NASA investigation crew which consists of 400 pages. The report says the committee had reason to believe that shuttles crew had little time to react to whatever happened on the fateful day. There was substantial evidence to show that the shuttle had spun around multiple times violently on re-entry and that it was hardly favorable conditions to take any decision at all let alone think of counter measures to the insulation rip off. Amidst all the chaotic noises produced by the on board computer along with rapid decompression had made the cockpit of the shuttle turbulent and inaccessible.
The explosion occurred within a matter of a few seconds and it was virtually impossible for the crew to do anything at all. The 400 page report has taken around four years to complete which consists of conclusions, references and possible recommendations on the handling of the rest of the shuttle fleet still in active service today. These will also come to use when the next generation of shuttle “The Orion " takes over to replace the fleet.
