Automation is the new buzz word, people want everything to be automatic and perfect. They believe that having something automatic will reduce the percentage of error that humans usually commit. How can we achieve this? Any automation system needs to be done by a human which means that the machine that we build may still have some problem which we fail to correct. Home automation system is an automatic system that can be used to automatically control all the lights and fans and various other devices. Such systems are very expensive as they involve using a lot of sensors and other devices.

My project deals with implementing a similar system for a fraction of the cost. The setup uses a microcontroller that can be programmed to control a relay board. This relay board is basically electronic switches which have either 1 or 0 as a output. 1 being on and 0 being off, this output can be used to control a switch. The entire device is connected to a computer and a program is created on VB to help connect the setup with a wi-fi connection. The entire setup can be configured easily and operated using a cell phone.
