Remember those lasers that you used to buy at your corner shop? Well that’s a low powered laser and has a power of around 1mW. Its cheap and does nothing at all, the most you could do with it is use it as appointing device and have fun with friends as long as you don’t shine it in their eyes. Have you seen those industrial lasers that cut through glass and other materials? Well those are really powerful and are in the range of 100mW to 1000mW and even higher. That could cut your arm off with just a swipe, more like a light saber. I keep wishing for a laser of this strength but never have the money to get one. It can be pretty dangerous in the hands of the wrong person, but hey, I’m not a dangerous person. I like to keep things real and safe ;)
I recently found a new way to make those small pocket lasers a pit more powerful, these lasers are quite powerful and the company usually reduces the power greatly to make sure that they are safe and aren’t harmful in any way. All one needs to do is reverse engineer it and see which part to remove to make it more powerful. I found this one part in the laser that has a resistor and this is the reason as to why the power reduces greatly when we switch it on. All one needs to do is short this resistor and give a direct connection to the power supply, and viola the laser becomes a lot more powerful, depending on the design a 1mW laser can be converted into a 10mW laser which is quite powerful and has the ability to burn skin to a small extent.
