The Israeli strike on Gaza has now entered the stage of ground troop’s infiltration. This is a crucial stage that follows an air strike. The Israeli air force has taken out key location in the Gaza strip to make it easier for ground troops. Though this may sound inhuman due to the number of casualties one thing must be kept in mind. Hamas had violated the ceasefire by firing mortar shells and rockets into the Israeli side in which a population of 700000 people live. This means that if a rocket hits its target properly the number of people who will lose their lives is large. It’s this act of violation that brought about the actions of the Israeli air force and ground troops. Their main aim is to take out all the Hamas lead organizations and to reduce their key military installments to rubble. This has been made possible by the 5 day intense bombardment of the place which has resulted in many civilian casualties.

The troops that have entered the Gaza strip have encountered stiff resistance and have reported around 4 casualties. What they underestimated was the Hamas’s ability to fight in urban conditions with improvised arms and explosives. This has caused a lot of problems for the ground troops. Let’s hope that this conflict stops and hope that peace is restored to the region.
