Those of you who have used a mobile phone will be familiar with this term. This is an International Mobile Equipment Identity and is a collection of digits represent ting the nature of the device and contains many security features. Every time a device tries to make a phone call or send a text message this number is transmitted to the service provider thereby identifying the device. In case of stolen devices this number can be used to trace them.
I have recently lost my Nokia mobile phone and am anxious to somehow get it back. In my quest to determine the most ideal way to track my lost mobile phone I came across this term that promises almost everything I was looking for. I found the IMEI number of my device by referring to the receipt of the purchase and using this I have filed a complaint at the nearest police station. Technically it will be possible to track my mobile device once someone uses it to operate a SIM card, which is a Subscriber Identity Module. Once this happens, the service provider would get a notification and the subscriber information corresponding to the SIM card number can be used to trace the user. This can be done, however in most cases; false information is used to obtain the SIM which makes it impossible to trace the mobile phone user.
