University of California’s Memory and aging research centre claims that searching for data on the internet affects the brains thought process and alters the neural circuitry. However it is much too early to predict such a relationships potential to treat age related disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Dementia. The Study which is yet to be published is based on the research performed with healthy individuals who were made to read texts and also search online while their brains were mapped using an MRI machine. This Magnetic resonance Imaging technology, a radiology technique has the ability to determine the structural and functional aspects of the body.
With the reports that by 2050 the number of reported cases of Dementia will almost double, this research will pave way for future modes of treatment of such mentally degenerative diseases. In layman’s terms, it means that reading books and searching data online alters the neural patterns in our brains and enables one to filter data effectively and also strengthens already existing neural patterns. Therefore, it is inevitable that In future we may come across a variety of clinics offering memory developing programs which will hold a promise of delaying the onset of such mental illnesses.
